About Us

The Combermere Abbey estate is one of the Northwest’s historic gems – 1000 acres of stunning ancient parkland, woods and a large mere. With almost 900 years of history, the historic buildings and landscape both inspire and captivate its visitors. A 20 year restoration programme is still ongoing and the beautiful 5 acre Walled Garden is home to the world’s only fruit tree maze! Sitting on the border of Shropshire and Cheshire between the market towns of Nantwich and Whitchurch visitors can easily explore the wonderful heritage and gardens this area has to offer.

Combermere Abbey’s ten beautifully appointed, award winning holiday cottages are specially set up to encourage relaxation and enjoyment. Take advantage of the spoiling add-ons designed to encourage guests to reduce their stress levels and leave completely refreshed.

Combermere is perfectly situated and within easy driving distance of Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, The Midlands and The Potteries. Crewe railway station is readily accessible, as are Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham airports.

Cheshire Gardens of Distinction celebrates the county’s extraordinary offering of horticultural variety. From large historic gardens to smaller spaces, all lovingly created and cared for by passionate people for passionate people to visit! Base yourself at Combermere Abbey cottages and you can fill your days with different itineraries but return to revive the aching feet in total comfort and luxury. Three of our cottages (Crossley, Malbanc and Beckett) specially cater for groups of friends and can be booked so that you can all eat together and our mid-week breaks offer extraordinary good value and fewer queues at the gardens too!
