About Us

Mere Brook House is an imposing Edwardian country house on the Wirral. It offers high class bed and breakfast accommodation in eight bedrooms and has facilities for events, such as weddings, celebrations and business meetings. The house is situated in its own grounds extending to almost four acres that include a beautiful garden with sunken dell sheltered by mature trees, paddocks and a woodland area that runs down to the Mere Brook.

The 5 Star Gold bed and breakfast is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Thornton Hough, nestled between the famous cities of Liverpool and Chester. This makes it an ideal base for exploring both cities, as well as visiting the many attractions on the Wirral.

It is also well placed for guests attending the popular wedding venues Thornton Manor and Thornton Hall Hotel, as they are both about one mile from us.

We are the closest accommodation to Clatterbridge Hospital, so patients receiving treatment there, or their visitors, have only one mile to travel from Mere Brook to the hospital.

Mere Brook House is just over a mile from junction 4 of the M53, making it an accessible business meeting venue from all parts of the Wirral, Liverpool and Chester.

Whether you're staying on the Wirral for business, a social visit or to play golf, we can offer a warm welcome, with comfortable and luxurious surroundings in which to relax.

At the large roundabout with lights, take the road to Clatterbridge – you will go past the hospital on your right and come to a roundabout with a garage in the middle of it, go straight across this roundabout and then at the next smaller roundabout TURN LEFT on to Thornton Common Road. Wirral Rugby Club will be on your left at this point. Continue on this road and you will see a sign that reads, “Potatoes for Sale” on your right hand. Slow down as we are the next property!
