Add Northwich to your Itinerary

Northwich’s success was initially built on the salt industry, with the town being dubbed ‘the salt capital of the world’ at the height of mining and extraction.

Many of the landscapes, structures and attractions you see today in and around the town are the legacy of salt; visit the breath-taking Anderton Boat Lift, stroll along the River Weaver or pop into the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse to learn about the history of West Cheshire.

Northwich also boasts the Lion Salt Works which has recently undergone a £10.23 million restoration, making it one of the premier tourist attractions in the North West.

Visitors will be able to discover exactly how the salt works operated and just how much of an impact salt had on the people of Mid Cheshire, its economy and also its landscape.

There are also numerous beautiful parks and open green spaces dotted around Northwich, although you’ll be equally as impressed when you venture into the town centre.

For the shoppers there are major national retailers combined with a diverse range of quirky, specialist independents. The town also plays host to an Artisan Market once a month and a Teenage Market four times a year; here you’ll find unique, hand-crafted products and much, much more.

Other events also take place throughout the year including seasonal extravaganzas, providing fun and entertainment for all the family.

Northwich Town Centre is also a superb location for socialising.

Whether you’re meeting friends, clients or simply nipping for a quick bite, Northwich has breakfast, lunch and dinner covered with effortless ease.

All of the aforementioned attractions of the town will also soon be bolstered by the Barons Quay Development, an £80 million project which will complement the recently re-developed Northwich Memorial Court.

Featuring a five screen cinema, numerous restaurants and high street outlets, Barons Quay will put Northwich firmly on the map as a destination of choice for shopping, eating, drinking and leisure.
