The Museum is participating in the Cheshire's Year of Gardens '08 events with this forthcoming major exhibition, which will be part of a programme of events across Cheshire throughout the year.
The project will commence in Life Long Learning week, during May, with two slide lectures: "Gardens in Provence" by Julia Davenport. This looks at the influence of English Victorians on gardens of the French Riveria. The second is "Gardens of Ancient Egypt" by Jeanne Whitehurst. This will demonstrate the concepts used by ancient Egyptians in the design of their gardens.
The exhibition will include various themes including: Dig for Victory, historical backgrounds of the allotment Society, Community Garden and Congleton Park and plant societies. Also included will be tools of the Trade and garden ephemera such as advertising. The exhibition theme is to focus on a potted history of gardens and gardening in the Congleton area to induce memories of a bygone age.
Leave M6 jct 17 and follow the A534 towards Congleton and then the brown signs to Congleton Museum.
