Waterways

Waterways' in Cheshire

There are so many ways to enjoy Cheshire's waterways.
Float away on a narrow boat holiday for a few days such as with Anglo Welsh Waterways Holidays or with Heritage Narrowboats.

Make a full trip round the Cheshire Ring of canals and tackle the 97 locks as well as swing bridges and tunnels, mooring up somewhere different at the end of each day and enjoy the hospitality of waterside pubs. The whole trip can be completed in a week - at a push!!

For a more gentle introduction to boating, just take the trip from Bunbury to Chester along the Shropshire Union Canal. Wind down relax and enjoy the delights of cruising at a leisurely pace of 3 miles per hour. But remember to allow time for sightseeing as you will pass by magnificent Beeston Castle. At the end of your trip spend some time in Chester to indulge yourself in the boutique city.
For other watery experiences, take the UK's only vertical boat ride on the amazing Anderton Boat Lift or explore the history of narrow boats at the National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port OR stay on dry land and explore the country parks and towpaths alongside the canals.

Whatever you decide, Cheshire has more waterways than any other County in Britain so make your waterways holidays here!
