Adlington Hall and Gardens is one of the finest examples of a Rococo garden in existence in the UK today. The colours burst as we enter Spring and the laburnum arch makes its presence known. The Wilderness becomes home to a carpet of bluebells and the wildlife begins to emerge. With features dating from the 1600s onwards, the follies, pathways and maze are a joy to behold .Extending over 2,000 acres, there’s a surprise around every corner.
The Hall itself is a tribute to the changing architectural styles on Britain with the North front reflecting the Restoration period, the East being built in Tudor times and the South and West fronts showcasing Georgian grandeur. Inside the Great Hall is the Organ, one of the greatest in the UK and rumoured to have been played by Handel. When visiting the Hall take a trip through the dining room and up the staircase into the rooms used by the Legh family over seven hundred years, including the children's nursery.
Finish your trip with a visit to our tea room to sample our delicious homemade cakes and pastries. The traditional tea room serves a delicious selection of teas and fresh homemade cakes for you to enjoy. It‘s open on public days and for pre-booked tours.
Please note we are closed Sunday 20th April and Sunday 20th July.
Adlington Hall is situated between Prestbury and Wilmslow. Take the A523 and follow signs for Adlington Hall. Turn down Mill Lane, Adlington, opposite Legh Arms Pub. Adlington Hall is 0.5 miles down Mill Lane on the left.
