Shanties on the Steamer (Acton Bridge – Acton Bridge) cruise duration approx. 4 – 4.5 hours. With The Port Sunlight Sea Dogs
3rd June & 1st July 2018
With river water in their veins, expect incredible ship-shape ballads and mellifluous harmonies as we sail from Acton Bridge at 1200 hrs and head straight for the picturesque Dutton Locks, after which we wind our way through some of the Weaver Navigations most stunning scenery to pass through the recently refurbished Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge to Marsh Lock where we will turn and make our way back to Acton Bridge. So 'batten down the hatches' because the PORT SUNLIGHT SEA DOGS will continue a right rum tradition of singing shanties and songs of river and sea, songs of sailors and whalers, heroes and villains. PORT SUNLIGHT SEA DOGS' roots are steeped in folk and Celtic traditions, Merseybeat, Skiffle, even opera!. Come join in the stormy choruses, and celebrate our past (and future) maritime history with a bit of a rant and a bit of a roar!
PARKING – due to very limited parking at Acton Bridge we will be operating a Park & Ride Coach Transfer from the Anderton Boat Lift car park to Acton Bridge. The coach will depart at 1130 hours and take you to the vessel for a 1200 hrs sailing. There is a minimal parking fee of £3.00 for the whole day. Following your cruise, the coach will return you to your car at the Anderton Boat Lift car park.
