Harry Young, BSc Geography & Natural Hazards, was joint national winner of the Museum + Heritage Award for volunteering, following his work at the Lion Salt Works during the pandemic. Harry has used his degree research to develop this exhibition which explores the huge impact of salt from the Cheshire Plain has had on our histories and the landscape around us. Salt lies deep beneath our feet – how did it get there and how have do we use it? From transport and our place in the world, from chemical industries to cheese-making, from communities to the natural environment? The fascinating story of salt geology helps us understand where we live and who we are.
