About Us

Located in the heart of Cheshire, in the picturesque village of Warmingham, The Bear's Paw is a delightful 19th century character inn. This charming, yet stylish gastro inn is strategically placed between the major market towns of Sandbach, Middlewich and Crewe, and easily accessible from the M6, making The Bear's Paw the ideal base from which to explore the many delights which Cheshire has to offer.

Our luxurious boutique style bedrooms with exquisite decor and furnishings are the ideal haven for a peaceful nights rest. Providing you with total comfort in lush surroundings, all 17 bedrooms are en suite and feature modern day amenities such as flat screen televisions, complimentary WiFi and media hubs.

At The Bear's Paw we take pride in our home cooked wholesome food. We use only the freshest and most seasonal produce which is locally sourced wherever possible. The bar features six real ales from local micro breweries and a fantastic selection of renowned wines from around the world. With two open fires, reclaimed antique oak flooring and more than 200 pictures adorning the oak panelled walls, the inn has kept its traditional charming character yet with a stylish contemporary twist.

    Starters

    • Cauliflower and stilton soup with blue cheese beignet and truffle oil (v)
    • Muncaster crab, crayfish and prawn cocktail, Marie Rose sauce, pickled cucumber, preserved lemon and ciabatta shards
    • Bacon wrapped Ardennes pate, red onion jam and toasted sourdough
    • Beetroot cured salmon gravadlax, horseradish crème fraiche, caper shallot and spring onion dressing, brown bloomer bread
    • Crispy brie almandine, pear and candied walnut salad, pistachio vinaigrette (v)
    • Confit Gressingham duck leg, hot confit slaw, watercress, orange and pistachio salad.

    Mains 

    • Roast sirloin of Ridings Reserve beef, Yorkshire pudding, goose fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables and rich roast pan gravy
    • Roast leg of Welsh lamb, goose fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables and rich roast pan gravy
    • Roasted breast of corn-fed chicken, butter poached potato, bacon wrapped fine beans, French peas and red wine jus
    • Pan fried hake fillet, cockle, clam and horseradish chowder, confit potato and spaghetti vegetables
    • Roasted fillet of salmon, buttered new potatoes, tender stem broccoli, spinach and a chervil beurre blanc sauce
    • Wild mushroom, truffle and gorgonzola arancini, buttered asparagus and roasted gem hearts, aged parmesan and mizuna leaves, herbed vinaigrette (v).

    Desserts

    • Sticky toffee and date pudding, salted caramel sauce and honeycomb ice cream
    • Lemon cheese cake, raspberry compote, mini meringues and Chantilly cream
    • Warm treacle tart, banana ice cream and toasted almonds

The Bear’s Paw – Directions from the M6

Leave the M6 at junction 17 signposted Sandbach, Congleton, join the A534 followed by the A533 (2nd exit at roundabout) signposted Middlewich, Northwich. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit, still on the A533, turning left after approximately 2 miles onto Mill Lane. Just short of half a mile turn left onto Warmingham Lane, after a similar distance right onto Plant Lane, then immediately left onto Green Lane. After approximately 2/3 of a mile turn right onto Crabmill Lane and then left onto School Lane which will lead you to The Bear’s Paw.
