Under the current circumstances some of you may be self-isolating or unwell and thinking that it will be hard to still treat your mum this Mother’s Day. We’ve complied a few ideas for how to put that much-needed smile on her face this Mothering Sunday.

Alternative Mother's Day Ideas

Afternoon Tea (In the comfort of your own home)

Recently featured in Cheshire Life Magazine, Abda’s in Northwich are offering an Afternoon Tea Delivery service. You might have to get out your own china and napkins, but this is a lovely idea and helps support a local business during these times of uncertainty. To order message them through their facebook page or email to Info@abdas.co.uk your choices, dietary requirements and delivery address.

If your mum is an animal lover or a Chester Zoo member, you could adopt her an animal. Their new adoption packs start from £45. Whether you decide on a gold, silver, bronze or junior package, adopting an animal at Chester Zoo is something that endures past just Mothering Sunday. You’ll be helping to fund conservation work in the UK and around the world and your name will be on a ‘Thank you’ plaque near the habitat for when you choose to visit. (At time of writing Chester Zoo is still open and being a big, wide-open space is ideal for still being able to get out and about during this uncertain time)

All mums are superheros but is yours an outdoor adventurer too?

If so she might like a voucher for GO APE Delamere, where you can go for a Mother Daughter zip experience, Segway or go on a Treetop adventure. Nothing says ‘I love you mum’ like cheering your role model off a 40ft platform into thin air! (Still open at time of writing, but this is a great one to use now or save for later)

Or how about a Hover Crafting experience?  Hover Force Activity Centre is a 30-acre outdoor activity centre and as such they are a relatively low risk activity, they have also added extra cleaning processes to their site. They are also letting you book any activity for 2020 and then if you decide to postpone, they will let you change your dates free of charge.

The epic new Spa at Carden is outdoors so you can practise safe distancing whilst also getting some much needed relaxation if you choose to go now (still open at time of writing) or alternatively get a gift voucher to enjoy at a later date.

Get outside and enjoy nature

National Trust are opening their parks for free so you can keep getting out, exercising and enjoying the wellness that being in nature brings. (at a safe distance from others) You can read their statement here or find out where your local park is on their website.

Show mum how much she means to you with a unique Mother’s Day gift that supports the woods and wildlife she loves. Make the occasion more meaningful in a unique way with Woodland Trust tree or woodland dedications and support the work being done for woods, trees and wildlife across the UK.
