Autumn may be the time for wildlife to slow down and begin their preparations for winter, but the Gardens at Tatton Park are flourishing with Cheshire’s Wonderful Wildlife. This Autumn the Gardens transform into an outdoor gallery for a series of twelve artworks created by local Artist Nicky Thompson and presented by The Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership and Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
A ‘picture-perfect’ gallery
Nicky Thompson’s poster-inspired artwork depicts animals in his characteristic style, all of which are native species to Mid-Cheshire. He explains: “Although this series is essentially 'platform art' and will be displayed across the Mid Cheshire Line, I am really excited to see them launch in the stunning gardens at Tatton Park... I really can't think of a more picture-perfect 'gallery.”
Rare wildlife at Tatton Park
Acres of Gardens and Parkland at Tatton provide a perfect sanctuary for many wildlife, some of which you can learn about on the trail and if you’re lucky enough – see in the Park itself! Rangers have recently spotted a rare black necked Grebe on Tatton’s Mere, who was probably visiting from a nearby breeding site.
Wonderful Wildlife for everyone
As well as Tatton’s iconic Red Deer, adults and children of all ages will love exploring the gardens looking out for Brown Hare, Great Crested Grebe, Kingfisher and Mute Swan to name a few. You can learn more about the wonderful wildlife and their habitats by picking up a free booklet when you visit Tatton Park’s Garden this Autumn. Budding little artists will hopefully be inspired to enter Tatton’s competition to draw or paint their favourite wild animal! A winner will be chosen in a 10 and under category and a 11-16 category, each winning a fabulous art set. More details at tattonpark.org.uk/autumnadventures
