1. Celebrate Chinese New Year in Chester

Chester is set for a major celebration this Saturday as we welcome in the year of the rabbit this Chinese New Year. The streets will be a sight to see with a parade of traditional music, lions and dragon dancing, non-combustible firecrackers and cultural characters. Starting at 11am on Eastgate street the day will also include Tai Chi and weapon skills demonstrations, cultural workshops, and a new year’s banquet at Panda Mami.

2. Take a trip back in time to the Battle of Nantwich

Visit Nantwich this Saturday and be transported back to the English Civil War with the town’s annual Battle of Nantwich re-enactment. The faithful troops of The Sealed Knot will once again gather in the historic town to re-enact the battle that took place in 1644, marking the end of the siege of the town during the English Civil War.

3. Relive Bowie’s greatest hits from A to Ziggy

This Saturday you have the chance to experience David Bowie’s greatest hits as Bowie Experience comes to Crewe’s Lyceum theatre. Hailed as ‘phenomenal’ and ‘mind blowing’, the show is a celebration of the sound and vision of David Bowie. A must see for all Bowie fans, this production features all the hits from A to Ziggy.

4. Discover the history of the Romans (and salt!) in Cheshire

Northwich’s award-winning Lion Salt Works have a fascinating exhibition that explores the relationship between two of the most famous parts of Cheshire’s past: the Romans and salt.  Cheshire’s Salt Towns – a Glittering Roman Legacy tells the fascinating story of how and why the Romans exploited salt in Cheshire, and the legacy of the salt-producing towns they left behind.
