At the tender age of 70 Christine launched Christine's Preserves. Christine learnt how to make jams and marmalades from her mother and the family recipes she uses today have been passed down through the generations.
Running the local farmers market for 12 years, Christine regularly found it difficult to get a good producer of preserves. So, slightly frustrated she decided to make her own. It all started with a mere 17 jars of orange marmalade which sold quickly. She busily chopped and sliced her way through the month making greater numbers and varieties and the business has grown from there.
The range now stands at 30 flavours of conserves, marmalades, pickles, chutneys, relishes and mustards. So many in fact, she's enlisted the help of her son Hugh and his partner Charlotte to chop, stir and bottle the delicious goods. Whilst many are family recipes, Christine isn't afraid of trying something new and some of her best selling flavours are newer creations.
Christine has recently introduces a popular range of fruit liqueurs including sloe and damson gins, rhubarb, strawberry, raspberry and chilli vodkas and limoncello. Perfect for making cocktails at home or for gifts.
