About Us

The Laycroft Longhorn Farm Shop provides an opportunity for the sale of their own Longhorn beef alongside other local quality meat from their butcher’s counter. They also sell a range of other produce including seasonal fruit & vegetables, jams, chutneys, cakes, bread, dairy products and ice cream etc with as much of our produce as possible being sourced locally.

Gary and Nicky Prance have been building up their herd of Pedigree Longhorn Cattle since 2000 and now have in excess of 100 animals. The supreme quality of meat from the Longhorn has now been recognised by our top national chefs. Heston Blumenthal chose Longhorn to create his ‘perfect steak’ in 2006 and the breed was selected as ‘Britain’s Best Steak’ by Country Life Magazine.

Customers will be able to visit, browse and find all the ingredients needed to provide a quality lunch time or evening meal. They are keen to create an environment where customers are able to discover the stories behind their products and are encouraged to ask questions about the food they are buying.

The Prance’s have received support from RDPE for the Laycroft Longhorn farm Shop project which involved converting a redundant farm building with green energy source in the form of a biomass boiler burning waste wood products to provide heating and hot water.
