Deva Roman Discovery Centre is an interactive showcase of Roman Chester, designed for all ages and family members. Filled with stories from across the empire, genuine artefacts and have-a-go displays, our site presents historical information by putting you as the main character.
Board our ship to travel back in time to the port of Roman Chester. Enter the fortress to find your identity and occupation - collect your pay and begin your life as a Roman. Wander through the streets where you will learn all about housing, soldiers, hygiene and food through a series of hands-on exhibits. You’ll even get the opportunity to take a seat in our Amphitheatre and find out about the famous gladiators who fought there.
Learn all about the archaeology of Chester through our trailblazing light show and open archaeological trenches, which showcase the abundance of physical historical remains that lie beneath your feet.
Visit Deva Roman Discovery Centre to experience the history of Roman Chester by putting yourself right in the middle, rather than just looking through glass.
Tickets can be bought at www.devaromancentre.co.uk – booking isn’t essential, last entry is 5pm. See website for details of further events and activities including Roman Solider walking tours of the city centre.
