About Us

Born in Northamptonshire village Stoke Doyle in 1956, Jill has lived in Nelson in Lancashire, also lived and worked in the beautiful county of Devon and the picturesque old market town of Shewsbury, before settling down in Chester.

She has always had a leaning towards the visual arts and it was predicted at a young age, that she would gain success and become accomplished in art. Jill knew that one did she wanted to make art her life. Towards this goal, she began studying under professional artists and calligrapher Daffid Humphreys in his studio in North Wales, close to the stunning scenery of Snowdonia National Park. Initially training in illuminated design before specializing in pictorial art, Jill has held several craft fares and exhibited at The Gateway Theatre, being featured in Cheshire Life magazine.

She is an active member of the local government art initiative, Arts for Arts Sake, dedicated to providing a multi media creative arts centre, for Chester and surrounding communities. Collaborating with Chester Civic Trust, her work has featured on their official Christmas card for 2001 and that of the sheriff in 2006. She also holds a certificate in graphic design.

Jill has an abiding love for the romantic scene in Chester and for several years, has focused her work around an ongoing project, to capture its spirit in an encompassing collection of architectural portraits. It is this work, which mainly constitutes her present portfolio.

Jill retails her prints in The Groves, by the River Dee Chester on weekends and bank holidays and some weekdays. All Chester prints have a history on the reverse.

Her prints are also available in Northgate Art Centre, on Northgate Street, Tudor Deli on Lower Bridge Street, Chester Standard Shop on Watergate Street, and St. John’s Church, Vicars Lane, all in Chester.
