The Middlewich Waterside Trail runs around and through the town of Middlewich, starting at the Town Wharf (what3words: ///paves.region.scavenger)
and following the Trent and Mersey Canal in clockwise fashion, through to the junction with the Shropshire Union Canal (Middlewich Branch) at Wardle Lock. The trail follows the Shropshire Union to the aqueduct at Nantwich Road, along which is Mill Lane, which takes tou back to the river Wheelock Valley and the Mill at Stanthorpe. Following the track out from the Mill, the trail takes you along Coalpit lane and across the Chester Road to link up with the right of way to the rear of Croxton Lane. A left turn takes you onto a path following the river, past the confluence of the Wheelock and Dane, before linking up again with the Trent and Mersey Canal. The trail then follows the route of the canal back past the Big Lock to the Wharf.
