The Tour - The tour is conducted by a fully equipped Roman soldier in period costume. The route runs clockwise around the centre of Chester ( Pierpoint Lane, Bridge Street, The Cross, Northgate Street, Eastgate Street and The Amphitheatre). The tour covers the major buildings of the fortress passed on route and includes a description of the fortress and the civilian settlements outside the walls. The history of Roman Chester is broadly covered form the arrival of Roman armies ( c.48) to the collapse of the Roman provinces of Britannia in the middle of the fifth century CE.
