About Us

The Chester Archaeological Society Conference is a revival of the annual County Conference, and this is an anniversary year for the Society, founded in 1849, as the Chester & North Wales Historical, Architectural and Archaeological Society.

So, the conference programme looks back at some major themes and projects undertaken by the Society over the last 170 years, as well as looking forward.  The built landscape of the city was changing in the middle of the 19th century, as the population dramatically increased, and of course Chester's Heritage is still a contentious issue today, as site developments take place.

Programme details and contribution summaries will be circulated to conference attendees and updates posted on the CAS website.  Send your details and enquiries to Cllr Janet Axworthy, CAS Chairman, via Email Us.

The conference will be based in the Lecture Theatre of the Grosvenor Museum, so places are limited and entrance by reservation only.  The fee of £18 p.p. is payable by cheque to Chester Archaeological Society, forwarded to Mr Ian Candlin, CAS Treasurer, 6 Fox Lane, Waverton, Chester CH3 7PQ.  The conference starts at 19:00 on 28 June and continues from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday 29 June.

Guide Prices
