About Us

A special opening for Chester Heritage Festival of this exhibition, Charles Kingsley: Christian Socialist and Natural Historian. To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Kingsley (1819-1875) and the 150th anniversary of his appointment as a Residentiary Canon at Chester Cathedral in 1869 the Chester Cathedral Library has mounted an exhibition about his several contributions to national and local debates.

The curator of the Exhibition will give short presentations about the exhibition at 10.30, 11.30, 14.00 and 15.00. The Exhibition Library is in the south-east corner of Abbey Square and accessed through an iron gate and up some steps.

An electronic catalogue of the exhibition is available here and a printed catalogue of the exhibition is available in the Library for £2.
