About Us

Back to the Dee for the third walk exploring areas around Chester’s waterways on the first day of Chester Heritage Festival. During this walk Julie Savory of the Friends of the Meadows will discuss the history of the Meadows, which were purchased by the Brown family in 1929 and transferred to council ownership on condition that they are preserved for recreational use by citizens of Chester. The role of the Friends of the Meadows in protecting and enhancing the area for future generations of humans, fauna and flora will also be explored. Meet at the entrance to the Meadows on Lower Park Road, at the junction with Elizabeth Crescent, for this short, one-hour stroll along a footpath beside of the River Dee and then across parts of the Meadows. The route is rough in parts and can be muddy. Book in advance for this free walk.
