Children’s Heritage Hunt

The attached download includes only brief details about the route. 

The hunt starts at the junction of Canal Street and Upper Northgate Street.  From there go south, through the Northgate, down Northgate Street to the Cross, then down Bridge Street and Lower Bridge Street towards the River Dee. 

Then, after going through the Bridgegate, turn left to walk along the Groves, (with several opportunities to buy ice creams and snacks, but no questions to answer), pass the bandstand and find the steps up to St John’s Church and Grosvenor Park. 

At the top of the steps, go through the gates into the ruins of St John’s, where outstanding question 15 and question 21 can be answered.  Then go to the front of the Church and continue along the walkway above the amphitheatre.  After visiting the amphitheatre, cross Souter’s Lane and enter the Roman Gardens.  If you go to the end of the path with columns, there is a way through the Walls into Park Street, turn right, and pass the Alms Houses to find the steps up to the City Walls.  Walk north along the walls as far as Eastgate to complete the Hunt.
