Join internationally award-winning playwright Oliver Emanuel for a day masterclass filled with practical writing exercises intercut with discussions on why we tell stories – and what makes a good one. The class will examine 'idea' as an object, as well as how to shape that object into a story, character, setting and genre, and who the story is for. By the end of the day everyone will leave with new techniques, knowledge of new crafts, 10 pages of a new work and a plan to take that work forward. Aimed at beginners as well as emerging playwrights, everyone is welcome. This is a rare opportunity at Gladstone's Library and is not to be missed!

Oliver Emanuel is an internationally award-winning playwright based in Scotland. He has written over 30 plays for both stage and radio, and is also Reader in Playwriting at the University of St Andrews and an Associate Playwright at the Playwright Studio Scotland. Oliver is currently working on the third instalment of 'The 306: Trilogy' and new work for BBC Radio 4.
