About Us

Enter a magical Christmas Mansion themed to 'Food Glorious Food' and decorated with fresh foliage and stunning decorations. Special lighting and seasonal music adds to the festive atmosphere as you work your way through enchanting rooms - from the grandeur of the state rooms through to the servants' quarters. There's a special festive treat awaiting you at the end! Please note National Trust members are required to pay entry to this special seasonal event.

Chocolate Advent: Family Entrance, archway and display of numbered advent boxes with large chocolate props. 2 boxes with tags for visitors to open and reveal the chocolate. Food Glorious Food music played outside

Santa’s Snacks: Yellow Drawing Room, Father Christmas asleep by the fire in a comfy armchair, table display of sherry, mince pies and carrots. Audio of ‘A Night before Christmas’

The Egerton’s Christmas Feast: Dining Room, full traditional Christmas dinner with table lavishly displayed with collection items, replica foods and floral decorations. Interpretation panel will pick up historical British Christmas feast & foods

Staircase Hall: Large 20’ real Christmas tree full of lights and decorations, Traditional Christmas display around base of tree. Choirs singing from stairs and gallery at weekends only. Audio festive music on weekdays. Staircase garlands made from replica greenery

Five Bird Roast: Library, large recipe book prop with lavish 5 bird roast recipe, 5 large brightly coloured fabulous bird props – Turkey, Goose, Pheasant, Duck and Wood Pigeon. Room decorated with kitchen utensils and 5 bird roast ingredients and accompaniments. Interpretation will pick up other countries Christmas dinner traditions

Sweet Treats: Drawing Room, large candy cane walkway and candy pink Christmas tree, Roses and Quality street props, jars, giant sweets and retro sweets that families only buy at Christmas – Terry’s chocolate orange, after eights, marzipan fruits etc

Bubbles: Music Room, champagne celebrations with large flute Christmas tree, cascading bubble and displays

Gingerbread Village: Entrance Hall, follow the jelly sweet path as it twists through the gingerbread village. Large 3D and 2D houses, Christmas tree and gingerbread people. Scandi style iced. 3 x 3D houses can be entered for photo opportunity. Sleigh filled with gingerbread ingredients. Traditional carol singer music on audio

Boxing Day Leftovers: Card room, retro sofa and TV playing B/W copy of Scrooge movie. Retro domestic style tree and tables with left over and boxing day foods on.  Mince pies, brandy butter, sausage rolls, left over butty, pork pie etc and retro drinks – snowballs, baileys etc as well. Curry recipes on side

Stocking Fillers: Lift passage, framework covered in lights, stockings and gold coins

Christmas Cake Magic: Kitchen, large iced Christmas cake and half finished cakes around the room, winter wonderland white enhancing icing theme

Scents of Christmas: Scullery, oranges, cinnamon, cloves, ginger all the traditional aromas of Christmas filling jars, shelves and table.

Still Room: Activities with costumed servants and treat giveaway

Connecting corridors, House Keepers Room, Servant Corridor and Still Room all decorated


In the Library: Vote for your favourite Christmas Dinner mains. Voting jars in the library with tokens, visitors asked to vote for what they plan on having for Christmas Dinner from Turkey, 5 bird roast, fish or vegetarian.

In the Card Room: What’s your ultimate Leftovers Butty Ingredient? Retro Christmas cards that visitor write on their must have ingredient and put in the retro card holder. Similar to a ‘Christmas wish tree’ but themed to card room Boxing Day Leftovers story.

In the Still Room: Meet the Servants and help them with their Christmas food preparations. Costumed maids working in still room, stirring up the Christmas pudding and handing out the festive treat (additional education activity at weekends for families)

Photo opportunity: In the Entrance Hall, inside and alongside the Gingerbread Village houses.

In the Drawing room: Spot your families must have sweet treat.

Tots Trail: Sprout Spotting, can you find the cuddly toy sprouts hiding throughout the Mansion
