Cheshire's 'gem of a watermill' is holding a free, family-friendly Victorian Harvest Festival on 24-25 September
Stretton Watermill is one of the country's best-preserved working water-powered cornmills and a 'gem' of Cheshire. On 24-25 September, it will be holding its memorable, fun, family-friendly annual celebration of the apple harvest. This will take place from 12-5pm in its idyllic rural location at Mill Lane, Stretton, near Farndon. The event is free and so is the parking and there is also plenty of space for picnics. For further information go to www.westcheshiremuseums.co.uk or Eventbrite.
The weekend's events will include seasonal Victorian crafts, food displays, music and apple pressing (visitors are encouraged to bring their own apples to press). Chris Hocking will also be present with his extraordinary selection of vintage bicycles. Visitors can also learn about the history of this ancient mill, that dates from 1630 before joining a miller for a tour of the mill, including the picturesque mill pond.
This is the last event at Stretton Watermill until it closes for the year. It will reopen in April 2023* each weekend until September (1-5pm) and between May to August, the opening times will be extended to include Friday and Saturday (1-5pm). Regular children's activities are held during these opening times, as well as a variety of events.
