About Us

Come and test your knowledge of Chester and the Grosvenor Rowing Club! There will be a short talk at 19:45 where you can learn about the illustrious history of our hosts: the hugely successful Grosvenor Rowing Club, celebrating 150 years on the River Dee. Founded in 1869 under the moto, 'Virtus non stemma' (Virtue, not pedigree) for the assistants & clerks of the city. The quiz will start at 20:00 and be a team event. Enter as a team of six or just meet your fellow team members on the night. Refreshments will be on sale throughout the evening. The venue is accessed via a flight of stairs. As one of the UK’s oldest open membership rowing clubs, members are #ProudToBeGrosvenor. Volunteers offer first class coaching, with members achieving huge accolades across all ages and abilities including recent representation at Team GB trials for Tokyo 2020. New members are always welcome and Learn to Row courses are offered. There will be opportunities during the evening to speak to members if you have an ambition to row on the Dee.
