Magic Lanterns – Luminous Yarns

Magic Lanterns is a trail of eight beautiful mini-projections hidden in the dark nooks and crannies of Chester's unique Rows. Discover the projections at night and watch as a host of enchanting Chester stories are conjured up in the shadows. A magical musical soundtrack accompanies these nocturnal images. Enjoy this FREE outdoor family treat for Chester this November.

The eight projection locations will form an easily walkable trail around the Rows.

Magic Lanterns has been created for Refresh by artist Fabric Lenny and Urban Projections, creators of some of the most awe-inspiring projection work in the country. Music will be created by musician Nick Lewis and children from Grosvenor Park Academy in Chester.

Booking details

Although tickets are free, you’ll need to book your places on a Magic Lanterns slot for either 5pm, 6pm or 7pm on the 18th or 19th November. Tickets are limited to a maximum of six per booking. The walk should take around 40 minutes to complete. You can book here today.

The event will take place in all weathers so come dressed for it! Extreme weather circumstances may cause a cancellation

Refresh brings together the pop-ups and cultural programmes of the Chester High Street Heritage Action Zone (the Rows), funded by Historic England and supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council
