About Us

To mark the 50th anniversary, Storyhouse have picked some of the greatest films ever made about the NASA project.

Moon Season: The Right Stuff - 7 July - 5:30pm

Focusing on the lives of the Mercury astronauts, the film grippingly recounts the dangers and frustrations experienced by those involved with NASA's earliest achievements. Released 1998. Duration 185 mins. Directed by Philip Kaufman. Starring Sam Shepard, Scott Glenn, Ed Harris, Dennis Quaid, Fred Ward.

Moon Season: Armstrong - 9th July - 8.20pm

Dramatic, moving and deeply human, this is the definitive story of Neil Armstrong – the first man on the moon. Narrated by Harrison Ford and featuring breathtaking NASA footage, re-mastered archive material and never-before-seen home movie footage, this intimate and often surprising documentary, tells the incredible untold story of a determined family man who became a reluctant world icon. This special one-night-only event will feature exclusive additional footage recorded at the world premiere on 2 July and will be followed by a Q&A hosted by Dara Ó Briain alongside Mark Armstrong (Neil's son), Maggie AderinPocock MBE (BBC Sky At Night) and the filmmakers.

Moon Season: Hidden Figures - 16th July

Three brilliant African-American women at NASA serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Released 1964. Duration 126 mins. Directed by Theodore Melfi. Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons.

Moon Season: Apollo 11 - 19th & 20th July

Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 70mm footage and more than 11,000 hours of audio recordings, Apollo 11 takes us straight to the heart of NASA's most celebrated mission. Released 2019. Duration 93 mins. Directed by Todd Douglas Miller. Starring Buzz Aldrin, Joan Ann Archer, Janet Armstrong, Neil Armstrong, Jack Benny, Johnny Carson.
