Puppet Carving Workshop

Puppet Carving Workshop
Part of Wild Rumpus' Summer at The Forge programme

-

Come and learn the basics of puppet carving with Alison Duddle of A Bird in the Hand Theatre. In this 2 day course we'll be constructing a carved hand puppet using lime wood, using a traditional Chinese hand puppet design as inspiration. Alison will take you through the process involved in designing and carving the heads and hands from wood and creating a fabric body. All tools and materials will be provided. In order to use our time fully, Alison will pre-cut your design on the bandsaw, leaving more time for carving and finishing. Information about how to draw out and send your design will be sent when you sign up for the course, so don't leave it to the last minute to sign up!

Alison has many years of experience as a puppet and mask maker and director, creating shows as part of both A Bird in the Hand Theatre and previously Horse + Bamboo Theatre. Her work has also appeared in film, on TV, in galleries and in parades.

£160, includes overnight accommodation in vintage caravans, an evening meal and all materials. 10 places available.

Suitable for adults only.
