About Us

Tour Guide, Lyn Hand, leads this walk visiting places with connections to the war, and recounts stories of both the military and Cestrians during the war: from recruitment, receiving the King’s Shilling, to remembrance.

The walk finishes at the Albion Inn to view the display of World War One memorabilia and, if you wish you can buy lunch there.

Meet in the Visitor Information Centre at the Town Hall for this 90-minute accessible walk. Later during Chester Heritage Festival there is an opportunity to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles that formally ended the state of war on 28th June 1918.

Guide Prices

£8 adult, £7 concession (in full-time education, retired) and £20 family (2 adults and 2 children under 16). Pay on the day, but book your place on the walk in advance, via this website or by phoning the Chester Heritage Festival office - 01244 972115
