About Us

The hunt for lost words, inspired by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris’s spell book of the same name, continues in 2020 at Dunham Massey and Quarry Bank. The National Trust’s fun trail with art installations conjures up a vanishing natural vocabulary that is being lost as children spend less time outdoors. Yet, it seems, all is not lost; young explorers can pick up a booklet to create spells to bring nature’s language back to life. Keep your eyes peeled, there are hidden words everywhere – on a spinning zoetrope, in a willow sculpture, even etched on an old stump.
