Add Traditional Pursuits: Pole Lathe Bowl Turning to your Itinerary

Product Image

The one day course will focus on the traditional techniques of turning a bowl from green wood using a pole lathe. Students will be shown how to select and split the wood using a tool called a 'froe', then process it using a shave horse and draw knife. Step by step instruction will be provided on correct chisel selection and technique to turn the inside and outside of the bowl. The pole lathes are pedal operated, which gives you a wonderful connection with the rhythm of wood removal. The finished work can be taken home at the end of the course. The course is suitable for both total beginners and more experienced individuals who want to refine their craft.

All materials, tools and equipment will be provided within the price. Intended for adult visitors. This event must be pre-booked and includes park entry admission on the day of the workshop.
