About Us

An informative 4½ mile walk exploring the River Dee and the canal side, looking at how they have changed over time.  The Dee has long provided citizens with a means of transport, trading links, leisure, and, of course, food and water. Through the centuries the river and the canal, and the areas surrounding them, have altered and our predecessors would have trouble recognising the city today. Join Maria and John Owens of Chester Rambling and Hill Walking Club as they celebrate the Club’s centenary and lead this Heritage Festival walk on behalf of Chester Civic Trust.

Meet at the Castle Car Park, wear comfortable shoes, and bring water: the walk is expected to finish at 9:00pm, with a chance of a drink at the Boat House on The Groves.  Book in advance for this free walk.
