A visit to the region would not be complete without a trip to the world’s first industrial city, where visitors can enjoy shopping, and nightlife, museums, galleries and concert venues, all within easy access of the centre of the city.

With food and drink options aplenty, you can enjoy some of the UKs finest craft beers, fresh from the brewery tap rooms and just a stone’s throw from Piccadilly Station.

Home to world famous football teams, fans can take a tour of the stadiums and visit the National Football Museum. The Metrolink provides an easy connection to Old Trafford, and you can quickly get to the Etihad Campus by Metrolink or rail. A well-lit walking route is also available to the Manchester City stadiums.

The vibrant Northern Quarter is home to an impressive range of alternative and independent shops and bars, just a short walk from Piccadilly station.

Free walking tours are available at 11am daily from the Alan Turing Memorial in Sackville Gardens, and you can also find lots of self-guided walking routes online to make sure you don’t miss the sites.

For further inspiration and local maps, the Manchester Visitor Information Centre can be found inside the iconic Central Library in St Peter’s Square, which is a well worth a visit for its architecture, as well as its regular events and exhibitions.
