"I remember sneaking through a gap in the fence where Brazil were training. They let me join in – including Pele. What a thrill for an 8 year old boy".
It's just one of hundreds of memories from the time Pele and the Brazil team used the Lymm Hotel as their base for the 1966 World Cup.
A new temporary exhibition, "When Pele Came to Lymm" prompted by the sad passing of Pele, opens at Lymm Heritage Centre on Saturday Jan 7th. It features photographs, stories, reminiscences and small display of 1966 world cup memorabilia plus a 10 minute video compilation describing the visit from start to end. Open Thurs to Sun 12-4 Admission FREE
