In Chester

The district of Handbridge lies on the south bank of the River Dee and is home to leading educational institutions such as West Cheshire College and the Queen’s School.

Although Handbridge mostly a residential area, there are number of attractions, bars, pubs and restaurants you can make a stop off at during your visit to the area.

Edgar’s Park

Covering a distance of around a mile, this picturesque public park is the ideal place for an unwinding walk through Chester. The park is also enriched in history, host to one of Chester’s many English Heritage Grade I listed buildings – Minerva’s Shrine. The park was originally a Roman quarry, with a shrine to the Roman goddess Minerva constructed in the early 2nd century.

Restaurants and Bars

From quirky gastropubs to local delis, every taste can be catered for in Handbridge. Surrounding the perimeter of the historic Roman walls, The Ship Inn is a go-to destination in Handbridge. Overlooking the River Dee, you can make your way through the diverse food and drinks menu in an idyllic setting.
