Discover a unique heritage experience at Murgatroyd's Brine Pumps Works in Middlewich, Cheshire. A newly restored schedule monument which tells the story of the salt & chemical industries through over 2,000 years of history and invention.

Murgatroyd's Brine Pumps site is open from Saturday 17th September to Sunday 18th September between 1200-1600. This site, situated on Brook's Lane, Middlewich, tells the story of how the salt and chemical industry developed through time, of how George Murgatroyd played his part in the industrial revolution which lead to Middlewich becoming one of the centres of the industry. We have interpretation, activities, film showings and above all the unique John Thom pumps made in Partricroft, Eccles.
We have stewards in all areas to guide you, the site is partially accessible for wheelchairs and we have children's activities so the whole family can join in.
Car parking is at Middlewich Community Church not far from our site and we do have parking for people with mobility issues by our gate
