About Us

Over 500 years in the making, Chester’s Midsummer Watch is the oldest and most colourful parade in the UK. Since its first outing in 1498, the Watch has become a major part of Chester’s Cultural Heritage with links to the Cathedral and the Chester Mystery Plays. Over 400 local people are involved in this moving portrait of historical events, local legends, biblical and other mythical characters. Musicians, giants, dragons and pirates deliver colour, spectacle and excitement. The parade begins each day in the Town Hall Square at 2:00pm.
