I absolutely love Autumn so I am excited to offer this workshop - using all my favourite fibres to create depth of tone and texture in beautiful autumn landscape pieces.
Wet felted landscapes workshop - including tuition on best practice, all materials, hot drinks, fruit juices and a cold buffet lunch.
Discover the art of wet felted landscapes at this fabulous workshop in November at the renowned Craft Room Tarporley.
Unleash your creativity and dive into the world of wet felting at our upcoming workshop. Hosted by Vicky, of Needlessly Felted, this workshop promises participants an immersive experience in crafting stunning landscapes through the mesmerising technique of wet felting.
Wet felting is an ancient craft, dating back circa 6500 years, that involves using water, soap, and agitation to transform raw wool fibres into a dense and malleable material. In this hands-on workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn the intricacies of wet felting and create their own beautiful landscape designs under the expert guidance of local artist Vicky Pulman.
Participants will be provided with all the necessary materials, including -
- High-quality wool fibres in a dazzling array of colours, textures and types
- Hand spun and dyed artisan yarns
- Raw and dyed silk fibres - throwsters, mulberry, hand dyed,
- Sari silk fibres, ribbons and scraps
- Curly locks in all colours and textures
- Nepps and noils - little woolly lumps and bumps for texture.
- Bamboo mats
- Fine mesh
- Rolling and fulling tools (this can be tough on hands so please ask for hand friendly tools if required)
- Natural olive oil soap.
- Water sprays
We advise attendees to wear a pinny! Rubber gloves may be used if preferred. Please bring a small hand towel and something with which to carry your wet work home.
You will go home with a complete felted piece. Once it is dry you may choose to add to it with needle felting or hand/machine embroidery. We would love to see your finished work!
The workshop will cover essential 2D wet felting techniques, colour blending, and landscape design principles, as well as a look at the properties of each fibre type, allowing attendees to express their artistic visions in a tactile and dynamic way.
Spaces for this workshop are limited to 8 due to the space required, so early registration is encouraged. Attendees are invited to bring inspiration or reference photos to personalise their landscapes. Finished piece will be roughly A4. Light refreshments will be provided. Small kits and some fibres will be available to purchase at the end of the session.
Don't miss the chance to delve into the enchanting world of wet felting and create your own masterpiece!
