Operated by Cheshire West and Chester Council, this award-winning multi-storey car park on Hunter Street provides parking for 800 vehicles and won Best British New Car Park 2023 and is open every day from 6:30am until 01:30am.
The car park provides direct access into the new Chester Market as well as into Exchange Square, the six-screen Picturehouse Cinema and restaurants within the Northgate scheme.
The new car park includes many improvements over the previous Market car park including:
- Significantly improved accessibility design, lighting, security and comprehensive CCTV coverage
- Granted a Park Mark Safer Parking Award
- 40 electric vehicle charging points, provided by the Monta network.
- Stair-cores decorated with wonderful artwork designed by Chester artist Graham Boyd, featuring murals celebrating 2,000 years of Chester's history.
The car park also has a dedicated secure Cycle Hub with space for 50 cycles, free e-bike charging and a tool station. Anyone wishing to use the Cycle Hub can pay a one-off £10 fee for an access card, available from the car park office within the New Market Parking to the right of the entrance.
The car park also includes nesting boxes for swifts and bats to support wildlife in the city centre.
Access to the new car park is from St. Martins Way at the junction with Hunter Street via a newly remodelled junction allowing for two-way traffic into and out of the car park.

Cheshire West and Chester residents that hold a Blue Badge with a microchip can park in the new car park for up to four hours without charge.
