Cop-turned-comedian Alfie Moore is bringing his new show to Warrington next year.
Alfie developed his arresting sense of humour after spending more than 20 years with Humberside Police.
Now the observational comic shares his witty, and often gritty, anecdotes about modern day policing on the radio and with audiences up and down the country.
His new tour will see him present ‘A Face For Radio’ at Pyramid on 29 February.
After three decades of shift work, initially at Sheffield Steelworks and then as a copper on the beat, Alfie made his surprise career shift into the world of comedy in his 40s.
He got his first opportunity on ITV’s Show Me The Funny, hosted by Jason Manford. Since then his shows have been met with acclaim at Edinburgh Festival and he has supported the likes of Sarah Millican, Russell Kane and Milton Jones.
But Alfie’s big break came with the success of It’s A Fair Cop – a comedy he writes and presents for BBC Radio Four, which now has seven series.
The presenter, writer and comedian has also brought his unique perspective on the funny side to policing to Radio 4’s Idiots Guide to Crime and Punishment, BBC Three’s Bizarre Crime, Channel 4’s Confessions of a Police Officer and Channel 5’s Criminals Caught on Camera.
In his new stage show, Alfie will talk about how he got into comedy – and why it took so long – after being told to stop messing about in class before being nudged into the grinding, grimy world of Sheffield Steelworks.
He then traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police where being punched in the face a lot gave him a ‘face for radio’…
