Mobile phones, virtual reality, and robot cleaners; these are the height of technology today, but have you ever wondered what the height of technology was 200 years ago? Come on a journey to discover what inventions were used in the Mill at Quarry Bank to produce goods that then travelled all over the world, at a time when the world seemed a lot smaller! Become an inventor’s apprentice as you walk through the mill, learning about how the machines were made and how they work. Experiment with power, and discover how one water wheel could run an entire mill! Explore the site to learn how modern day inventions maybe aren’t as modern as you think, and how we still rely on the one constant that humans have used for thousands of years: nature!
On your visit, you will also have the opportunity to visit Quarry Bank House and its gardens. We will also be running two tours; 'The Workers Cottage tour' (Only available on Saturday) and 'The Apprentice House tour', which will need to be booked on the day.
