Bringing History to Life - World War II

Visitors will have a unique opportunity to experience what it was like during the World War II period as our friends from the Home Guard will be dressed in uniform and bringing a range of wartime memorabilia.

The Cheshire & Merseyside Military Vehicle Trust will also be showcasing their military vehicles, which will transport visitors back in time.

We are also looking forward to welcoming 'The Armed Historian' Steve Cawood who will be hosting a 'Musket to Machine Gun in 30 Minutes' display and commentary ... be warned - the display includes some firing!  Just like the history books, but noisy! (S Cawood) 

The Living History Day is a perfect opportunity to learn about the lives of the people who lived through the war and understand the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedom today.

12pm: Musket to Machine Gun in 30 Minutes – display and commentary from local re-enactor Steve Cawood covering the development of weapons and the history of firearms from 1740 – 1940.

1pm: Women at War Samantha Mellor, CH21 Home Guard Historian: - how the roles and responsibilities of war have impacted the rights and roles of women forever.

3pm: Musket to Machine Gun in 30 Minutes with Steve Cawood (see details above)
