Cheshire’s premier industrial heritage museum, Northwich’s Lion Salt Works Museum will be warmly welcoming visitors to a socially-distanced day of Christmas celebrations this Saturday, 11 December. Events include a choir, the chance to see Father Christmas and a range of festive Christmas craft activities for children. Most events in this action-packed Christmas are free, except if visitors want to visit the museum (open from 10.30am to 4.00pm). A trip to see Santa is £2 and each child receives a gift.  For further information call 01606 275066.

To ensure visitors feel safe when attending the advice is to:

Carry out and have a negative Lateral Flow Test 24h prior to attending the event

Face masks are mandatory

That people should do a symptoms check prior to leaving home.

That people consider their own measures prior to attending which could include some social distancing in busy areas.

Visitors are also encouraged to download and log their Covid status on the NHS app

Father Christmas will be spreading Christmas joy between 12 noon – 3pm. There is a £2 charge but each child will receive a gift - there is no need to book in advance. Local carol singers from the Rivendell Choir will be getting everyone into the Christmas spirit by singing traditional carols from 12.15pm

Free family craft activities will be available in the spectacular, historic setting of the Thompson suite, where children will be able to make a wide range of traditional items, such as Christmas cards and paper chain decorations as well as writing letters to Father Christmas.

Christmas shoppers can enjoy browsing in the Museum’s well-stocked shop which features gifts such as contemporary jewellery, bags, books and some special items made from rock salt.

The Museum’s café offers light refreshments, including its Christmas speciality Winter Gingerbread latte. The cafe is ideally located overlooking the imaginatively-themed play area, giving adults a chance to have a coffee while the youngsters play.

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “The Museum is committed to providing a Covid-safe environment but retaining the joy and festive spirit of this wonderful time of year. Carol singers and crafts, some present ideas and a chance for children to meet Santa.”
