You`ll find everything you might need in this smart and independently spirited market town.
The two main streets Princess Street and King Street have a good selection of upmarket clothing boutiques, cafes, bars restaurants, hairdresser and beauty salons and a few hight street retailers too.
The town has plenty of green space including The Moor, a large park with a playground behind King St. On rainy days Planet Play just across from the station has got you covered for entertaining the kids.
This historic Cheshire town has a fascinating history which can be explored at The Knutsford Heritage Centre. Here you can discover more about acclaimed author Elizabeth Gaskell who was once a resident and was said to have based her classic novel Cranford on the town. You can also view the 40 ft long Millennium tapestry.
The eye catching Italianate Gaskell Tower which features on our Marvellous Days Out rail art poster series was even named after this illustrious author. As you wonder about the town look out for our Museum in the Street numbered history boards which are located at points of interest around the town.
Make sure you don`t leave without visiting the Penny Farthing Museum which also doubles as a café at 92 King St. Every ten years the town has a Penny Farthing race with riders attending from around the world! But whilst you’re waiting for it to come round again there’s a busy calendar of annual events to enjoy including the traditional Knutsford May Day celebrations.
But The biggest draw is the annual RHS Tatton Flower Show which is held at The National Trusts` Tatton Park. The extensive parkland and stately home can be reached from the Kings Gates at the end of King St. On show days a shuttle bus takes visitors from here to the show ground.
Knutsford Railway Station has won a number of awards in the Cheshire Best Kept Station Competition.
